General Club Information

Purpose

The objectives of the Bill Gremillion Memorial Radio Club shall be the promotion of interest in Amateur Radio communications and experimentation; relaying of messages by radio without charge; the furtherance of the public welfare; the advancement of the radio art; the maintenance of fraternalism and a high standard of conduct among its members; and the promotion of other such activities as are allied there to.

Operation of the club is governed by the BGMRC bylaws.

Membership

BGMRC is open to any person interested in Amateur Radio shall be eligible for membership. Full Member- must be licensed amateur. Family Member- must reside in household (the same house) of a Full Member but does not have to be a licensed amateur. Associate Member- only available to Novice Class license holders or individuals with no license.

Dues and By-Laws

Annual dues for Full Membership shall be twenty ($20) dollars payable on July 1 of each year. Dues for Family Membership shall be two ($2) dollars and dues for Associate Membership shall be five ($5) dollars. A new member joining the Club after December 31 shall pay half (1/2) dues to carry him or her through the end of that membership year.

Facilities

The BGMRC operates two FM Voice Repeaters (K4SEX) in Newnan and one digital repeater (K4NRC-7) in Grantville. The digi-peater operates on 144.390 MHz. In addition to the club-owned repeaters, club members and other local radio amateurs also own and operate repeaters in the 2m and 440-MHz bands:

Activities

Members of BGMRC participate in the following activities during each year: (Click on the activity title for additional information on each activity.)

ARRL Field Day: BGMRC participates in the ARRL Field Day event held in late June. Gasoline and propane generators are used for electrical power for the weekend event. A picnic supper is typically held on Saturday evening at the field day site for BGMRC club members, families and friends.

VEC Exams: Examinations for amateur radio licenses are given throughout the year by local volunteer examiners.

Emergency Services Support: BGMRC club members are active in local and area amateur radio emergency service (ARES) activities. The emergency service activities include supporting Coweta County Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service.

Public Service Events: Local radio amateurs also provide communication support to a number of area public service events during the year. The supported events include walkathons, bicycle races, marathons, Powers Crossroads Festival, etc.
